Who We Are

We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (PC-USA) and a member of the Shenandoah Presbytery.

First Presbyterian Church Martinsburg was established when agreement was reached by the Presbytery, meeting at Romney, WV on April 29, 1825, to allow the organization of a new church in Martinsburg.

We are a community Church residing in downtown Martinsburg, WV. Berkeley County is a rapidly growing neighborhood with a varied ethnic mix of peoples. Our church family is a diverse mixture of people: young and old from within the United States and other nations, blue-collar and professional, life long Presbyterians and many from other religious backgrounds and traditions.

We are a congregation deeply committed to a vision of God's openness to all people in our wonderful diversity, to the spiritual nourishment of both the head and the heart, and to making a difference in our community and world. We believe in one Triune God, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit who created the universe came to earth and though undeserved by humankind took on a very human form and became the perfect sacrifice for our sins.

Our mission is to serve Christ and advance His kingdom.

We are called to be Christ's servants demonstrating and proclaiming God's good news to all the world.
